FEBUCYTE

Febuxostat belongs to a class of Xanthine oxidase inhibitors. Febuxostat decreases uric acid levels by blocking xanthine oxidase. It’s a more selective and potent inhibitor of XO than Allopurinol and has no effect on other enzymes involved in Purine and Piramidine Metabolism. Indication:Indicated for chronic management of hyperuricemia and Gout. Dosage: Initial dose 40 mg PO qDay May increase to 80 mg PO qDay after 2 wk if serum uric acid 6 mg/dL is not achieved Dosage ModificationsRenal impairment • Mild to moderate (CrCl 30-89 mL/min): No dosage adjustment necessary • Severe (CrCl 30 mL/min): Not to exceed 40 mg/day

(Levocarnitine Injection- 200 mg/ml, 5 ml Amp.) Levocarnitine is a naturally occurring substance required for energy metabolism. Plasma carnitine accounts only for approximately 1% of the total body, with over 98% of the carnitine present in the skeletal and cardiac muscles. Dialysis therapy can cause a decrease in carnitine levels. Recent studies shown that the I.V levocarnitine plays an important role on anemia and cardiovascular disease in CKD patients. Indication: For the acute and chronic treatment of patients with an inborn error of metabolism which results in secondary carnitine deficiency. For the prevention and treatment of carnitine deficiency in patients with end stage renal disease who are undergoing dialysis. Dosage: The recommended starting dose is 10-20 mg/kg dry body weight as a slow 2-3 minutes bolus injection in to the venous return line after each dialysis session.
